Omiš

Omis in Croatia is a small Central Dalmatian town and harbour located between Split and Makarska, situated in the mouth of the Cetina river, surrounded with massive gorges. In the past Omis was notorious becuse of the pirates of Omis whose ships were a centuries-long symbol of retaliation, courage and strength. The evidences of proud and turbulent Omis history can be found on every corner of the Omis Riviera. Ancient town of Omis, Omis churches and Omis fortresses are silent stone reminders of the power and the might of infamous Omis pirates. Today, it is the center of Omis Riviera, one of the most beautiful parts of Croatia's Adriatic Coast. Situated in the heart of Dalmatia, with it's true Mediterranean spirit and diversities, Omis Riviera offers everything you need for an unforgettable holiday in Croatia.

Mimice

It is not a coincidence that Alberto Fortis, Venetian traveller and writer, passing near Mimice said:

“This is a place of absolute beauty.”

Mimice is a small Mediterranean place with mild climate situated in the centre of Adriatic. It lays between the Omiška Dinara Mountain and beautiful pebble beaches.
Mimice is more than three centuries old, the proof of which are the monuments found near the local church. The inhabitants, friends and guests of Mimice, that spend every free moment here, are aware of the beauty of its landscape, the amazing clarity of the sea and the high mountain that seems to dive into the water.

If you go a little bit further, you will reach the beautiful canyon of the Cetina River that flows into the sea.

From spring local people organize excursions to the top of the Kosmatica Mountain that is just above Mimice, boat excursions to the nearby islands and Vrulja, fishing with professional fishermen, theme nights with music, concerts and shows in the old part of the village or in one of many gastronomic facilities near the sea, grape picking in September, fishermen’s nights on waterfront where you can taste an excellent fish stew and enjoy yourself…

Mimice has pebble beaches, and besides four local ones, there are several smaller beaches that can be reached only by boat. They are very beautiful and clean.
Equally enchanting are the theme nights organized by local people such as Karaoke nights, Bel canto nights, poetry nights, Puntin Ball dance night, the festivity of St. Rocco, fishermen’s nights…

On your way to the old part of Mimice, we recommend you take a walk through typically Mediterranean narrow streets winding between hundred-year-old stone houses and experience the atmosphere of ancient Mimice.
Don’t forget to visit the works of the Art Colony near and inside the church of St. Rocco.
If this was not enough to get the feel of Mimice, we recommend you visit Carevi dvori tavern in the old part right behind the church. You will be welcomed by a magical Dalmatian ambient, decorated with Mediterranean vegetation and flowers. Here you can always hear the mellow sounds of Dalmatian music and typical songs sung in a traditional sotto voce (under the voice) manner.

Take some time to simply relax on your balcony enjoying the magical colours of the sea, mountain and Mediterranean vegetation of Mimice, Medići and Marušići…

Radmanove mlinice - rafting

The Cetina River is navigable from its mouth to Radmanove Mlinice (7 km), a favorite local spot for outings. The river is clear and tranquil as it passes through its high canyon. A visit to the so-called “Islands of Love” is a
pleasure for lazy vacationers in motor boats. They can be rented at the bridge on the Cetina’s right bank. Large groups can find a bigger boat, on which “Captain Vlaho” can take you to Radmanove Mlinice or Kaštil Slanica.
Since Radmanove Mlinice is only open from May 1, we recommend Kaštil Slanica, which has a classic restaurant that offers local specialties (frog, eel, trout), game (venison, boar, water hen) and home-made bread. Visitors can also rent rafts at Slanica. Those who prefer a good adrenaline rush should contact the
Wild River Kayak Club.

Omiška Dinara

The most important feature of these mountains is that the highest mountain regions here do not have the form of a ridge but of a high plateau (up to about 1700 metres), with a very complicated relief, with many gorges and peaks, caverns and spurs. The edges of the plateaux often finish in huge vertical cliffs that plunge into deep, flat karst fields. As a rule the cliffs tend to be found on the south slopes, an exception being Troglov, which has cliffs on the northern slopes. What makes the strongest impression in the Dalmatian mountains is the awesome barrenness of the endless stone wastes on the plateaux. This is the realm of the Dalmatian karst, which has no parallel in Europe, perhaps not in the world.

Omiš - event- Pirate battle

As a reenactment of an actual historical battle between the pirates of Omiš and Venetians that took place in the 13th century, this unique event uses historical facts in building the brand of Omiš as a town of pirates and thus contributing to the development of cultural tourism of the wider Omiš territory.

More then 100 fully armed participants are directly involved in the reenactment of the original battle each year, including, apart from the Pirates of Omiš, also members of historical military units Kumpanija from Korcula, Trombonjeri from Dubrovnik and Uskoci from Klis.It should also be noted that more than 10 000 visitors enjoy this unique event each year.
